National Work Life Week 2023 (2-6 October)

National Work Life Week 2023 is the annual campaign that encourages individuals and organisations to focus on work-life balance and well-being in the workplace. This important week provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life and to promote initiatives that support employee well-being.

Being a Law Practice specialising in the representation of people with mental health difficulties, employee well-being is particularly close to our hearts and each day this week we will be implementing a new initiative that we hope will have a positive impact on our employees health, well-being, and general happiness.

Monday - ‘Happy Birthday’ from here on employees will be able to have their birthday off

Tuesday - ‘Extra Holidays’ An extra days holiday for 5 years of service and a further 2 days after 10 years

Wednesday - ‘Mindfulness’

Mindfulness is a technique you can learn which involves noticing what's happening in the present moment, without judgement. You might take notice and be aware of your mind, body or surroundings. The technique has roots in Buddhism and meditation, but you don't have to be spiritual, or have any particular beliefs, to try it.

Mindfulness aims to help you:

  • become more self-aware

  • feel calmer and less stressed

  • feel more able to choose how to respond to your thoughts and feelings

  • cope with difficult or unhelpful thoughts

  • be kinder towards yourself.

We will now be offering all staff access to mindfulness material to try and improve wellbeing both in and out of the working environment

In addition all Solicitors/Advocates employed for 4 years will be eligible for a free annual biennial Health MOT

Thursday - ‘Team Spirit’ - in addition to our Xmas and Summer gatherings as well as those to welcome new staff we will be making efforts to try and also introduce more regular staff get togethers and events to promote team building, team spirit and general wellbeing. We will also encourage and support our staff who may be entering charitable events, especially where the recipient organisations align with the ethos of our work

Friday - ‘Recognising Excellence’ all staff will have the ability to nominate individuals who have achieved something of note or just gone the extra mile to promote client care. The recipient will receive a special reward!!!
